Mr. Fisher's Grade 4 Blog

 Hello all,  On the morning of Tuesday June 28th, the grade 4 classes will be going on a walking field trip to Confluence Park.  Please pack a garbage free snack and help your child dress appropriately for the weather and a hat, water bottle, and sunscreen.  If necessary please pack a raincoat instead of an umbrella. Umbrellas could be lost or get broken.  Thank you!

 Good afternoon, We are enjoying the last few days of school!  We did drumming this morning and identified plants we eat. We discovered carrots and potatoes are a root.  We worked on building our cars this morning. Remember to bring recyclable materials to build.  This afternoon, we did gym and recess.  We did typing on the computers and got to use Minecraft Education Edition.  Reminders: Last day of school is June 28th! Report cards will be available online. Printed copies only available by request.

 Please send extra recyclables to school! We will be building cars in the coming few days and need supplies! Please wash anything that may have contained perishable food.  Ideas include, - Egg cartons - Boxes - Empty containers - Plastic bottles. Thanks!

 Good afternoon, We really enjoyed Play Day last week! Thank you to Ms. Sterne for organizing and Parent Council for the freezies! This morning we did reading and the Wordle. We had gym in the morning and then recess.  We did writing about the animal we are researching. We learned how to write an introduction and planned the rest of our writing.  We did 3D shapes in math. We made a cube and a rectangular prism.  This afternoon, we did science. We wrote the definition of a lever and came up with some examples and non-examples.  We did typing practice this afteroon and got to use Minecraft Education for the last 10 minutes of our computer time.  Reminders: Please return permission forms for Human Sexuality ASAP. 

 Good afternoon,  We did reading this morning.  In math we collected the stats for the last game from the Battle of Alberta. Congrats to the Edmonton Oilers! We had recess and ate snack.  We did writing about dental hygiene.  We continued working on simple machines in science.  This afternoon, we had gym with Ms. Sharlach.  We did Mathletics at the end of the day.  An important notice was sent home with students today!

 Good afternoon, We did reading and word games this morning.  We watched a video about friction while we had snack.  After recess, we did math. We made graphs using stats from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  We did a music lesson with Mr. Fisher. We learned about instrument families.  This afternoon we saw the K-3 concert in the gym.  We had recess at the end of the day.  Spring Concert: The Spring Concert will be tomorrow at 6pm. Please arrive between 5:30 and 5:55pm. Mr. Fisher is unable to attend the concert so students will meet in Room 12.  Please pick up your child after the concert has ended from Room 12.  Thanks!

 Good afternoon, We started with reading.  We did the Wordle and had gym this morning.  We did stations in gym.  We did descriptive writing today. We chose a topic to write on.  We read a book about time zones.  This afternoon, we did Ketchup work.  We had some time on Prodigy and Mathletics to end the day.  Reminders: School dance tonight 6-8pm Spring concert May 26th 6pm.

 Good afternoon, We did reading this morning and had music.  We were extra quiet in the halls for PATs.  We did science after recess. We are learning about simple machines.  We did descriptive writing today. We all read about Chameleons and put the information into our own words.  We finally planted our propagation. Our Pothos clipping grew roots. We put it in a pot to continue growing.  This afternoon, we had gym outside.  We did art to finish the day. We learned how to draw flowers and used water colour to paint.   Reminders: Dance tomorrow 6-8 Spring concert next Thursday!

 Good afternoon,  We did reading this morning and solved the Wordle.  We caught up on some math work. We are working on telling time and using the 24 hour clock.  After recess, we had snack and did writing. We worked on editing today.  We read from our novel.  This afternoon we did dance in gym. We had mindfulness after recess.  We wrote letters to teachers who have had an impact on us.  Have a great day!

 Good afternoon, We had reading and math this morning.  We are doing a dance residency this week. We did dance in gym. It was a lot of fun!! We learned about time in math. We solved problems with elapsed time.  We did health this morning. We made envelopes for compliments. We will be hanging our envelopes outside our door. Every week we will all receive an anonymous compliment from a classmate.  We wrote out compliments to distribute this afternoon.  Yesterday, we did our bird presentations. They turned out great. This afternoon, we had some time on Mathletics and Prodigy.  See you tomorrow!

 Good afternoon, We did reading this morning.  We worked on area and perimeter in math and did some subtraction questions.  We had snack and recess.  After recess, we worked on writing. We continued our comic books or did a new story.  We did science after writing.  This afternoon we had gym with Ms. Sterne. We did belly ball.  We did art after recess. We looked at art by Paul Klee and created pieces inspired by him. We are tying our art to math by finding the perimeter and are of the shapes in our drawing.  Have a great afternoon!

 Good afternoon, We started with reading. We did the Wordle together.  We had music and recess.  We did coding on the computers after recess.  We worked on making inferences in language arts. We looked at a comic strip and asked questions and made inferences.  We read a chapter of our novel to finish the morning.  This afternoon, we read a story called "Rechenka's Eggs." We drew Ukrainian easter eggs. They are called Pysanky. No school tomorrow or Monday! Enjoy your long weekend!

 Good afternoon,  Today we did reading to start the day. We did area and perimeter in math.  After recess, we had snack and watched a Mystery Doug video.  We did writing today. We could write a story or a comic book about a topic of our choice. We talked about how to get our writing to a 4. We learned about carnivorous plants in science.  We read from our novel before lunch. This afternoon we had gym and recess.  We continued our research project until the end of the day. We are working with a partner to research the best pick for Calgary's Bird. We will present our findings next week.   

 Good afternoon, We did coding this morning.  We had snack and did the Wordle. We also did another word game.  We did science. We compared the two plants we are propagating. We have a Spider plant and a Pothos plant.  We noticed several differences.  We are going to vote on Calgary's official bird in our class. We read about each of the birds today.  Good afternoon, We did reading this morning.  We did the wordle together and had gym. We talked about beginnings and endings of words.  We did perimeter in math. We designed a floor plan for our dream house. We included the area and perimeter of all the rooms.  We are going to beginning propagating a second plant. We will be planting a Spider plant pup. We made a prediction about how long it will take to grow roots.  We read from our novel this morning.  This afternoon, we did social studies. We learned about Alberta in the past.  We did Mathletics and Raz kids for the last part of the day.  See you tomorrow!

We are working on area and perimeter.  We did science. We are studying how plants grow and survive.  We read from our novel. This afternoon, we had gym. We did sit spots outside. We each picked our own spot and practiced being mindful and connecting to the environment.  We learned about The Feelings Wheel in health. This helps us to identify how we are feeling and things that trigger our emotions.  We learned about Alberta in the past and how Alberta has changed.  See you tomorrow!

We did writing after recess.  We read from two different novels and picked one called, "Finding Junie Kim."
