Hello all, On the morning of Tuesday June 28th, the grade 4 classes will be going on a walking field trip to Confluence Park. Please pack a garbage free snack and help your child dress appropriately for the weather and a hat, water bottle, and sunscreen. If necessary please pack a raincoat instead of an umbrella. Umbrellas could be lost or get broken. Thank you!
We finished our read aloud, "The Cats of Tanglewood Forest." Lillian turned back into a girl! The ending was a bit open-ended. We discussed what we liked/disliked and still wondered about the book, and then wrote a response. In Math, we have continued work with subtraction of 3 digit numbers and doing Math talks for our strategies. Students have really enjoyed "Esti Mysteries" where we see an image of items in a container and then get clues to figure out how many items there are. It uses our logic and estimation skills. Later this week we started some ALGEBRA! What? Yes! We discussed and used various strategies to solve questions with missing addends like 11 + ? = 92 In Science we have begun a unit called "Waste and our World." Good afternoon, Today we did reading to start the day. We did area and perimeter in math. After recess, we had snack and watched a Mystery Doug video. We did writing today. We could write a story or a comic book about a topic of our choice. We talked about how to get our writing to a 4. We learned about carnivorous plants in science. We read from our novel before lunch. This afternoon we had gym and recess. We continued our research project until the end of the day. We are working with a partner to research the best pick for Calgary's Bird. We will present our findings next week.
