This week in L.A. students wrote their summary (independently) after reading a story.  They were very well done!

We started practicing a new skill--questioning.  Good readers ask questions before reading, during reading, and after reading.  While we question, we also begin to predict and infer.  I modelled this while reading a really neat picture booked called "Shark Lady."  Students practiced questioning on their own while reading (and hearing) a non-fiction piece called "Polar Bear Problems."

Speaking of polar bears!  Did you know that polar bear fur is NOT white?  It is transparent!  We watched a video (link below) featuring some cool polar bear facts.  These facts relate to our "Light and Shadows" Science unit and it will lead us into our new Science unit "Waste and our World."  Polar bears will also be the feature of our bulletin board outside our classroom.  I will post pictures next week as we put it up.

Wednesday afternoon we had a (virtual) Pillars of Care Assembly.  Congratulations to this month's award winners!

Work continues on our Social Studies regions projects.  Ask your child about their region and what they have learned so far.

Students have started jump rope and fitness in Phys Ed.  Fun!
