Sorry for the delay!  Mrs. Karr has been sick.  : (

This week in L.A. we have been working on summaries of stories.  We read several stories we were familiar with (and unfamiliar with) and together we wrote summaries.  We wrote 2-3 sentences about what happened in First, Next, Then, and Last.

In Social Studies, we have started a group project!  Students have been put into one of 6 groups to research more about the regions of Alberta--Boreal Forest, Grassland, Parkland, Canadian Shield, Rocky Mountains, and Foothills.  Each group will make a large poster to display information about their region including--its landforms, climate, plants, animals, resources, and jobs.

In Science, we continued to read about white light and how our eyes "see" colour.  We also watched an awesome video on Aurora Borealis (or the Northern Lights)!

In Math, we have been working on adding 3 digit numbers with re-grouping.  We started with using base ten blocks to model two numbers then physically re-group the blocks.  This helped many students understanding re-grouping better.

In Phys. Ed., we continue our unit in volleyball.  We have been practicing setting and bumping over the net in teams of 4.

Fun outside with shadows at recess!
